Colossal Cave Adventure set ideas and gameplay approaches that turned staples of textual content adventures and interactive fiction. Following its launch on ARPANET, quite a few variations of Colossal Cave Adventure appeared throughout the late Nineteen Seventies and early Eighties, with some of these later versions being re-christened Colossal Adventure or Colossal Caves. These variations were enabled by the rise in microcomputing that allowed programmers to work on home computer systems rather than mainframe techniques.
